What a Laughter Yoga Session is NOT -

Lying on the floor on a yoga mat!!!!

This session is done from the comfort of your seat!

Here is what Spud Kennedy has to say about Laughter Yoga.

Laughter is the best medicine, right? That is what we have all heard. However most are reliant on circumstances, not entirely under their own control, in order to create spontaneous laughter. This means waiting on the right opportunity to tell a joke or your coworker saying the wrong thing at just the right time. But what about intentional laughter? Forced laughter, with no comedic inspiration. Well it turns out the intentional laughter, approached as exercise, provides all of the same physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of spontaneous laughter. And on top of that, in my experience, always manages to turn into genuine laughter as well.

What does laughing do for the body? Well It increases blood flow. It releases happy hormones in the brain like dopamine, and serotonin. It suppresses un-happy hormones like cortisol. It can increase social connectedness and bonds between participants. And all of these effects can lead to improved mood, energy, presence, focus, blood pressure and immune system. Simultaneously lowering levels of depression, stress and anxiety.

In a work setting, laughter yoga can help encourage team building, and improve relationships which can foster more collaboration and a smoother work environment. It can serve as a fun and engaging way to break up the workday, helping people feel rejuvenated and more resilient to the problems we all face on a regular basis. And it’s not hard to see how that would increase productivity and workplace satisfaction. And once you know the exercise you can take them home and teach your kids, or laugh at yourself in the mirror. At any rate, with a little bit of help and a few exercises it’s easy to keep the laughter, and all those benefits, flowing wherever and whenever you go.
