Purpose
The purpose of this Safeguarding Learners Policy is to make clear that Dolores Andrew will do everything within its power to ensure the safety and well-being of young people and vulnerable clients who enroll in my CPD activities. This policy sets out my commitment to protecting these individuals from harm and demonstrates the measures I have in place as a sole trader to ensure their safety.
Scope
This policy applies to all young people (under 18) and vulnerable clients (adults who may be at greater risk due to physical or mental health conditions, disabilities, or other factors) who participate in my wellness training programmes.
Policy Statement
As a sole trader, I am deeply committed to safeguarding the welfare of young people and vulnerable clients. I believe that everyone has the right to learn in a safe and supportive environment, free from harm, abuse, or exploitation. I will take all necessary steps to protect these individuals and to ensure their well-being during their time in my programs.
Definitions
Young People: Individuals under the age of 18.
Vulnerable Clients: Adults who, due to various factors such as age, disability, or health conditions, may be at increased risk of harm.
Safeguarding Measures
Risk Assessment
I will conduct risk assessments for all training activities to identify and mitigate any potential risks to young people and vulnerable clients.
The risk assessment will consider the specific needs and circumstances of these individuals and will inform the planning and delivery of my programs.
Safe Environment
I will ensure that the training environment is safe and accessible for all participants, with particular attention to the needs of young people and vulnerable clients.
Any venues used for training will be carefully selected to ensure they meet the required standards of safety and accessibility.
Clear Communication
I will provide clear information to all participants about the measures in place to ensure their safety and how they can raise any concerns.
Young people and vulnerable clients will be informed of their rights and the support available to them throughout the training process.
Code of Conduct
I will adhere to a strict code of conduct that prioritises the safety and dignity of all participants.
I will ensure that my interactions with young people and vulnerable clients are always professional, respectful, and appropriate.
Reporting Concerns
Any concerns or suspicions regarding the safety of young people or vulnerable clients should be reported to me immediately.
I will take all reports seriously and will respond promptly, taking appropriate action to address the situation.
If necessary, I will involve external agencies, such as social services or the police, to ensure the safety of the individual.
Confidentiality
All concerns or reports related to safeguarding will be handled with strict confidentiality. Information will only be shared with relevant authorities when it is necessary to protect the individual from harm.
Training and Awareness
I will continuously update my knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practices to ensure that I am equipped to protect the welfare of young people and vulnerable clients.
Participants will also be made aware of safeguarding policies and procedures as part of their orientation.
Policy Review
This Safeguarding Learners Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and best practices. Any updates to the policy will be communicated to participants.
