THE RETURN TO VALUE
A reflective guide to the 2026 Venus retrograde journey through Scorpio and Libra
Relationships mirror back to us how we value ourselves.

A Venus Journey
Venus is often reduced to romance, beauty and attraction. In the teaching behind this guide, she goes deeper. Venus asks how worthy we feel of being seen and heard, what we truly value, what we desire, and whether our relationships reflect that value back to us.
This is a reflective astrology guide rather than a prediction of what must happen. Your chart is not a fixed script. Think of it as a sheet of music: there are themes and patterns, but you still decide how you play them. Different parts of a chart can modify how any transit is experienced.
The central question of this cycle: What do I value now - and are my relationships, choices and exchanges aligned with it?
Venus retrograde is especially useful for the language of “re”: review, reconsider, rebalance, renegotiate, reconnect, reclaim and release. The invitation is not to manufacture drama. It is to notice what is already asking for your attention.
The Venus Themes to Watch
· Self-worth: Where do I feel worthy of being seen, heard, paid, loved or recognised?
· Authenticity: Where have I edited myself to keep another person comfortable or to maintain belonging?
· Relationships: Are my personal and professional relationships reciprocal, trustworthy and energetically sustainable?
· Money and resources: Does what I charge, spend, accept or invest reflect what I genuinely value?
· Desire: What do I truly need and want, beneath habit, expectation or image?
· Power: Where have I handed over authority because I feared rejection, conflict or loss?
· Rebalancing: What needs to be re-harmonised rather than simply pushed forward?
These themes are drawn from the Venus material of the original six-week teaching, where Venus was framed as a feminine archetype of love, harmony and peace, but also as an invitation to courage, authenticity and reclaiming power.
The 2026 Venus Journey: Key Dates
Keep this page as your quick-reference map. The degrees matter because the house containing late Libra and early Scorpio in your birth chart shows where this review is likely to feel most personal.
Why Scorpio, Then Libra?
Venus in Scorpio: beneath the surface
Scorpio takes Venus beneath preference and politeness. The reflective questions become: Can I trust this? What am I investing? What am I receiving? Where is the power? What am I afraid to lose? What do I desire deeply enough to be honest about?
In business this can show up through pricing, client relationships, collaborations, shared resources, loyalty, money, influence and the emotional cost of an agreement. Personally it may be intimacy, trust, family, friendship or a relationship with yourself.
Venus back in Libra: rebalancing the relationship
When retrograde Venus returns to Libra, the emphasis moves toward reciprocity, fairness, agreement and balance. After Scorpio has revealed what lies underneath, Libra asks how two people - or two sides of an exchange - can meet without one disappearing into the other.
Scorpio asks: What is really happening underneath this?
Libra asks: Is this relationship or exchange balanced?
Where Is This Happening for You?
Find the house in your birth chart that contains late Libra and early Scorpio. That house describes the area of life where the Venus review is likely to be most noticeable. Use my free Houses eBook alongside this guide to identify the relevant life area.
You do not need to know every astrological term. Start with the house and observe what is actually happening in your life. Astrology is most useful here as a language for reflection, not as a substitute for your judgement.
Venus Square Pluto: When Value Meets Power
One of the defining patterns of this Venus cycle is the three-part Venus-Pluto square: 15 September, 20 October and 9 December. The same degrees are revisited, giving the symbolism a beginning, a return and an integration phase.
In archetypal astrology, Renn Butler’s work on planetary combinations treats Venus-Pluto as a spectrum rather than a single prediction. Themes associated with the combination include deep passion and the possibility of renewal or regeneration in relationships. Pluto intensifies whatever it touches, so the reflective task is to notice where love, desire, money, worth or relating has become entangled with fear, compulsion, control, possession or power.
The empowered expression
· Depth without obsession.
· Intimacy without possession.
· Strong desire without abandoning your values.
· Clear boundaries without using withdrawal as punishment.
· Financial honesty rather than using money as a proxy for worth or control.
· The courage to allow a relationship or agreement to change form when the old dynamic no longer works.
Questions for the three Pluto passes
15 September - Revelation
What surfaced? Where did I notice intensity, jealousy, fear of loss, power imbalance, attraction, money tension or a question of worth?
20 October - Descent
What is returning? What deeper truth is asking to be acknowledged rather than managed away?
9 December - Integration
What has changed in me? What boundary, value, price, agreement or relationship pattern will I now handle differently?
Venus Retrograde for Business
For entrepreneurs and leaders, Venus themes are everywhere: value propositions, pricing, reputation, partnerships, client fit, negotiation, visibility and the quality of exchange. Use the retrograde as a review window rather than a reason to stop living or doing business.
A practical business audit
· VALUE - Does my pricing reflect the value, energy and expertise involved?
· CLIENTS - Which relationships feel reciprocal, and which depend on over-giving?
· PARTNERSHIPS - Are expectations, responsibilities and benefits genuinely clear?
· MONEY - What am I spending or investing in because it is aligned, and what is driven by image, fear or comparison?
· VISIBILITY - Am I hiding part of my work because I fear judgement, or am I exercising healthy discernment?
· BOUNDARIES - Where would a clean “no”, “not now” or renegotiation protect the long-term relationship?
· DESIRE - What do I actually want my business to become, beyond what I think I should want?
A useful retrograde principle: review first, react second. A transit can be a prompt to notice a pattern; it does not make the decision for you.
The Descent of Inanna: A Guided Venus Meditation
The ancient Mesopotamian myth of Inanna’s descent into the underworld is often used in modern Venus work as a symbolic journey of descent, stripping away and return. The meditation below is an original reflective practice inspired by the broad descent-and-return motif; it is not a translation or reconstruction of the ancient text.
Allow about 12-15 minutes. Do not use this meditation while driving. If imagery becomes uncomfortable, open your eyes, feel your feet on the floor and return to the room.
Arrive
Close your eyes if that feels comfortable. Feel the support beneath your body. Let your breathing settle naturally. You do not need to force anything. Imagine Venus above you as a steady point of light.
The threshold
In front of you is a doorway leading downward. You know that you are not entering to be punished. You are entering to meet what has been hidden beneath habit, performance and expectation.
The seven gates
Imagine moving through seven gates. At each gate, you are invited to set something down. You decide what it is. It might be a role, an expectation, the need to be liked, an old relationship story, a price you put on your worth, a fear of rejection, or the belief that you must keep the peace. Nothing is taken from you without your consent. You simply notice what you are ready to stop carrying.
The underworld
At the deepest point, there is nothing to perform. Ask quietly: What do I value when nobody is watching? What do I desire when I am not trying to please anyone? Where have I confused being wanted with being valued? What relationship with myself is asking to be restored? Do not force an answer. Notice words, images, sensations or silence.
Meeting the shadow
Imagine placing one difficult Venus theme in front of you: jealousy, comparison, fear of loss, over-giving, undercharging, control, people-pleasing, withholding, or the need for approval. Instead of judging it, ask: What have you been trying to protect me from? What do you need me to understand?
The return
Now begin the journey upward. At each gate you may reclaim something in a new form: your voice, your standards, your pleasure, your discernment, your capacity to receive, your boundaries, your sense of worth. You are not returning as the person who descended. You are returning with greater awareness.
Integration
See Venus again as a light above you. Complete the sentence silently: “I value…” Then: “I am no longer willing to abandon…” And finally: “The relationship I choose to strengthen now is…” Take one deeper breath. Feel your feet. Open your eyes when you are ready.

Sources & Notes
The reflective Venus framework in this guide is adapted from Dolores Andrew’s original six-week Venus and Lilith teaching material. Key 2026 transit dates and degrees were checked against current ephemeris/calendar sources. Renn Butler’s archetypal approach is referenced in relation to Venus-Pluto; his work presents planetary combinations as archetypal potentials with a range of possible expressions.
